Question:When your braces hurt should you put somrthing cold or hot on?
Answer:
When you describe hurt, do you mean your teeth? If so, you can take some pain medication such as tylenol or motrin if you're not allergic to these, to ease the soreness, but this will not take it away 100%. The soreness should only last you a few days to a week. If nothing is relieving this, go back to your orthodontist for a check up.
Question:I just got braces a couple weeks ago. The tooth to the right side of my front tooth has been loose. Is this normal because none of my other teeth are loose? It's really starting to bother me.
Answer:
Yes, teeth can become loose when receiving braces as the wires are continually aligning them. This is part of the whole process. Once your braces are off, they will tighten once again.
Question:I have braces right now and I am getting them off in a couple months! But I was wondering if I will get squares on my teeth from the braces being there. I brush my teeth every morning and night I was just curious! If you could answer my question that would be wonderful!
Answer:
Most of the time when ortho. brackets are placed on the front of teeth, the dentist only has to remove them and polish off the old cement.
The only time we see a problem with spots under the brackets (known as decalcification) is when the patient has done a poor job of cleaning the teeth while in ortho. and bacterial acids have attacked the tooth around the brackets.
It sounds to me from what you have said that you have been taking fairly good care of your teeth while in bands. I wouldn't worry if I were you. If you do have any areas of discoloration, these can be corrected often with minor composite fillings.
